The Gold Coast Titans have announced the signing of Manly Sea Eagles and former Gold Coast Titan, Brenton Lawrence, for the next two seasons.
Lawrence will join the club for season 2018, seeing him back in Titans colours for the first time since season 2012.
The 32-year-old made his NRL debut for the Titans in Round 16 of season 2011, playing 18 games for the club, through until the end of season 2012. The Central Districts (Adelaide) junior then moved to Sydney’s northern beaches playing 80 games for Manly, taking his tally to a total of 98 NRL games at NRL level.
Lawrence is excited about returning to the Gold Coast.
"The Titans is where I started my NRL journey and after five great years at Manly I felt it was the right time to return home,” Lawrence said.
"After speaking to Neil and understanding the Titans’ future plans, I am excited to be joining the club again."
Coach Neil Henry is looking forward to working with Lawrence, saying;
“Brenton is a consistent performer at NRL level and someone who looks to be getting better with age,” Henry said. “He is the type of player that you know exactly what you are going to get from him and he will be a leader in the middle for us.”
“Brenton is a great club man and extremely community minded. It will be good to see him back here on the Gold Coast,” Henry added.
CEO Graham Annesley is pleased to have a player of Brenton’s calibre return to the club.
“Talking to Brenton it’s clear he has the maturity and character to further enhance the culture we are trying to build at the club. He will also help our younger forwards to further develop by sharing his experience and skills,” Annesley concluded.
