“I never dreamt of the career I have had. I never took anything for granted or felt I was entitled to anything. I felt I had to work my butt off every year.’’
Alex Glenn's future still hasn't been resolved, meaning Sunday's clash against the Eels could still be his last for the Broncos.
Glenn has been at Brisbane for the last 11 years, and will play his 259th game on Sunday, the fifth-most first-grade games by a Bronco.
The 31-year-old has been a staple of the Broncos' line-up since his debut, playing a minimum of 20 games per season.
According to The Courier-Mail, Glenn may need to take a $300,000 pay cut in order to remain at Brisbane, but as a veteran of the NRL, Glenn understands his predicament.
“That’s football, to be honest,’’ Glenn told The Courier-Mail.
“I have not really thought about the amount of games I have played. My mentality is about how big this game is for my club.
“I don’t know [if it's my last game for the Broncos]. I wish I could tell you that too. It is in my manager’s hands at the moment. Who knows?
“It is the back of my mind. That uncertainty is always there. I have to provide for my family but the thing that has got me though is handling my business the best that I can.
“I think everyone knows how hard it is. I have been at this club for 11 years.’’
While Glenn's future will remain up in the air regardless of Sunday's result, he's thankful for the career he's had, and will certainly be giving it everything once again.
