The Brisbane Broncos have announced the signing of Matt Gillett to an extended deal.
The Kangaroo second rower has committed to the Broncos for another four years, confirming him as a Bronco until at least the age of 32.
The new deal will expire at the close of the 2020 season.
Gillett joined the Broncos as a teenager in the under-20s system before getting his opportunity in the NRL after playing for affiliate club Norths Devils.
He made his NRL debut in round one of 2010, and was a Queensland Origin player two years later.
The Bribie Island junior made his debut for Australia in 2014 and has now cemented himself in the Kangaroos’ line-up.
Broncos’ chief executive Paul White said the length of the new deal underlined how much Gillett wanted to stay at the club.
“Matt is a wonderful rugby league player but also a thoroughly decent person,” said White.
“His efforts for the club on and off the field do not go unnoticed.
“We are really excited Matt has chosen to commit to the Broncos for such a long time."
