The Brisbane Broncos have announced the signing of Matt Gillett to an extended deal.

The Kangaroo second rower has committed to the Broncos for another four years, confirming him as a Bronco until at least the age of 32.

The new deal will expire at the close of the 2020 season.

Gillett joined the Broncos as a teenager in the under-20s system before getting his opportunity in the NRL after playing for affiliate club Norths Devils.

He made his NRL debut in round one of 2010, and was a Queensland Origin player two years later.

The Bribie Island junior made his debut for Australia in 2014 and has now cemented himself in the Kangaroosโ€™ line-up.

Broncosโ€™ chief executive Paul White said the length of the new deal underlined how much Gillett wanted to stay at the club.

โ€œMatt is a wonderful rugby league player but also a thoroughly decent person,โ€ said White.

โ€œHis efforts for the club on and off the field do not go unnoticed.

โ€œWe are really excited Matt has chosen to commit to the Broncos for such a long time."
