Young centre Brenko Lee has admitted he's feeling the pressure after interim coach Craig Hodges informed the players of the club's decision to play for your spot on the roster in 2020.
The 23-year-old remains out of contract in 2020 and has been exiled for four months now following disappointing early season form. A strong return against the Storm has boosted his chances as he scored three minutes into the clash.
Lee was positive about his playing future after the 20-point loss to the Storm, being optimistic about his chances for an extension.
โI come off contract at the end of this year and didnโt know what was going on,โ Lee told the Courier-Mail.
โIt was a bit of a stall to be honest. I was happy Hodgo (Hodges) told me I was playing (last) weekend.
โItโs probably a thing I need to look at now, what Iโm doing. Iโm 23 now and I just need to know where Iโm going to be.
โObviously I want to stay at the Titans but everyoneโs under review. Itโs a success-driven industry. Who knows whatโs going to happen at the end of the year.โ
After his efforts against the premiership favourites with 126 meters gained and 13 tackles on top of his early try, Lee is determined to let his skills with the ball dictate his move for an extension as the Titan wishes to stay on the Gold Coast for the near future.
โAll I can focus on is me playing good footy and going out there and doing my job and hopefully I get another contract,โ Lee highlighted.
โObviously itโs not great playing (Intrust Super) Cup when youโre coming off-contract.
โThe more games I can string together, the more confidence I can get in myself. When you play good footy, clubs come knocking and the Titans want to resign.
โThatโs the plan is just to string a few games together and see what happens from there.โ
The Titans face big brother Brisbane this weekend on Saturday and will attempt to get off the bottom with a win. With seven games left, the Titans are not thinking about finals and are focusing on winning games and re-building their club.
