Every Rugby League fan knows that it is never too early to begin talking about State of Origin football - even if it's before the first-grade season has started.

With New South Wales appointing Laurie Daley as their coach for 2025 after Michael Maguire signed with the Broncos, and Billy Slater searching for answers after a disappointing series loss last year, both coaches will potentially look to bring in fresh faces for this years series.

2. Max Plath (QLD)

After a breakout season which saw the 23 year old back-rower win the Dolphins' player of the year, Plath could be a bolter for the Queensland side in the upcoming series.

A relatively experienced forward pack featuring the likes of Lindsay Collins, Reuben Cotter and Felise Kaufusi, Plath could be the extra spark of energy off the bench that Queensland needs.

Despite playing just 23 first-grade games, don't be surprised if Queensland coach, Billy Slater still turns to the young gun to make his debut at some point in the series.
