Former NSW State of Origin star Brett Finch has been admitted to a mental health facility following an incident on an interstate flight, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.
The Fox Sports commentator was seen with a blood nose while asleep on a flight between Sydney and the Gold Coast on Sunday.
“He wasn’t abusive. He just didn’t want to get off the plane, like he was scared about something.
“The captain came out… they had to call fireys and ambulance to get him off.”
The Blues hero has previously revealed that following retirement he had hit "rock bottom".
“It took a few years, it took three trips to rehab facilities,” Finch told The Matty Johns Podcast.
“I learned a lot about myself and the things that I’m dealing with. I had to realise I’m not going to get the highs I had in footy and for so long I was chasing that.”
The former Canberra, Roosters, Parramatta, Melbourne and Wigan player is most famous for his winning field goal for the Blues in the 2006 Origin series after being a late inclusion into the NSW squad.
