FIVE potential landing spots for Terrell May

It is now officially NRL silly season. October has come and gone and now we have millions of dollars of talent available for the 2026 seson. All the talk today though is about a player who has become available, right away too it seems. That player being Roosters and Samoan prop Terrell May. The Roosters shocked the NRL community by telling their recently re-signed star that he is free to move right away. There will be no shortage of options given the talents of the 25-year-old, although the manner of the release will surely play a factor in his destination. Below are FIVE potential landing spots for Terrell May: St George Illawarra Dragons It is no secret that the Dragons are in the market for a pack leader up front. They chased Reagan Campbell-Gillard hard and were liked heavily with Daniel Saifiti. Terrell May immediately strengthens their pack and provides them with a leader. Shane Flanagan is the coach most likely to take a punt on a player with rumoured issues off-field. He took a supremely talented but easily distracted Andrew Fifita, turned him into one of the game's elite props and won a Premiership. The Dragons are also a side who need to take risks. They can't wait for the perfect signing, on and off the park. Let me be very clear here, May has not been confirmed to have done anything. It is all conjecture at this point. Obviously the Roosters being willing to let such a talented player, in his prime, walk away from the club sets off alarms, but Shane Flanagan is a coach who can handle such instances. I would be not be shocked, at all, if the hulking prop is wearing the Red V in 2025. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs All the talk earlier in the season was that the Dogs were close to announcing the signing of Terrell May. If he didn't re-sign with the Roosters, he'd be wearing the blue and white moving forward. Hard to imagine that anything has changed since. The Dogs look a genuine mongrel prop short of causing some serious damage in 2025. May is the literal wish come true option here in the middle. Gus Gould has proven over the past 24 hours that he is not someone to accept less than 100% commitment. If Terrell May isn't 100% ready to buy in, Gould will make a tough call, but if May is committed and available, there is no chance the Dogs aren't in discussions. Cronulla Sharks The Sharks were linked with May earlier in the season. Reports even suggested May was being shopped to the Sharks and Dragons. Right off the bat, May doesn't strike me as a "Fitzgibbon guy". Although neither did Addin Fonua-Blake prior to his signing with the club. The Sharks are cash strapped. They had to let Jack Williams walk to Parramatta, while the likes of Briton Nikora and Braydon Trindall need to be re-signed. That said, there is a host of talent either coming off contract or who could be shopped around to make room for the ultimate partner to the aforementioned AFB. I won't speculate on those players here, but May seems to be the final piece of a very serious puzzle in the Shire. Wests Tigers Much like the Dogs, the Tigers are in need of a pack leader. They've lost Stefano Utoikamanu. Whether that is a positive or a negative remains to be seen, but they need a replacement. As a player, May is the holy grail. He is big, aggressive, in the prime of his career, and not looking for a million dollars a season. The Tigers need to make a run at May, right now! The club has lacked go forward for years now. May fixes that. Surely his presence would drag David Klemmer out of his funk also. Again, the reason why the Roosters are happy to let him walk will come into the Tigers decision making, but truthfully it probably shouldn't matter. Canberra Raiders The Raiders need a refresh. I've said this a couple of times now and I don't believe it's a secret. Joseph Tapine was forced to play a lone hand up front far too often in 2024. I also believe Terrell May leaving the Sydney spotlight might be best. Again, there may be no off field reason he is being shopped but that won't stop conjecture. Leaving Sydney will certainly help. Canberra is a much smaller market with a far less aggressive media. Ricky Stuart is big on discipline so if May is serious about a long career in the game, Canberra looks a tremendous destination.
