Thereโs just one week to go until Super League kicks off for 2019 and the excitementโs building as every club anticipates the new season. A new year brings new hope, and with it, new signings.
A whole host of NRL players have decided to head to England this year and itโs great to see a few younger players, with none of them approaching retirement just yet.
Here are the five NRL imports Iโm most looking forward to seeing in Super League in 2019.
1. Blake Austin
Thereโs only one place to start and thatโs with Warringtonโs new five-eighth. Expectations are extremely high for marquee signing Austin, whoโs the clear favourite with the bookies to be Man of Steel in 2019.
Heโll be replacing Tyrone Roberts at the Wolves and itโs fair to say he doesnโt have a lot to live up to. Robertsโ rather underwhelming year ended with a return to the Titans for 2019, although he did play his part in Warrington reaching the Grand Final and Challenge Cup Final in 2018, both of which they lost.
Wolves fans will be hoping Austin can take them one step further and finally deliver their first championship since 1955.
Tui Lolahea๐๐ thatโs a good one
+1 Jake. You can also forget about Hurrell making any impact.
Personally i dont think any of these guys will light up the super league
Kurt gidley and sandow lit the superleague up, most of our players are a league above there players.
Albert Kelly is over there doing fine, I would prefer tui over him.
Hurrel will be one of the top try scorers over there this year. I take it you got for the warriors Jake? Well you have Kata and he is pretty much the same player as hurrel lol
Canโt disagree with that, thereโs still a clear gulf between the 2 comps. Some of the English lads have become stand outs in the NRL though, Josh Hodgson, James Graham and Sam Burgess in particular.
