Parramatta have reopened negotiations with South Sydney's George Burgess as they attempt to have him join the club before the 2019 season.

It was reported that Burgess rejected an offer from the Eels in January and discussions have since been renewed.

It is understood that the Eels are willing to pay Burgess' Rabbitohs contract this season and offer him an additional two-year deal worth approximately $700,00 to tie him to the club until the end of 2021.

The Eels have been looking to add size to their list and would look to have Burgess as a starting prop alongside new recruit Junior Paulo.

Burgess has not been guaranteed a contract with South Sydney after the 2019 season, but it is understood that he would prefer to remain at the Rabbitohs with his brothers Sam and Thomas.

However, he is being encouraged to take the Eels deal in order to have assurance over his future.

Encouraged to take the Eels offer???
    BY WHOM?
What ROT, speculation with no facts.
    That is just rubbish.

The facts are that Bennett and Richardson want George to stay.
The facts are that he wants to stay also.

Why is Jennings in the same article? One has nothing to do with the other.
Jennings fate was sealed when his greedy corrupt Manager Isaac Moses knocked back a good offer from Souths Months ago.

Richardson is not going to sacrifice an International for a 39 game rookie who wonโ€™t put his body on the line and tackle and who conceded 13 trys to the opposition in 2018.

    NO WAY!

  2. What are you on drugs parras, he would be perfect for you guys, but seriously hope he stays at Souths, he is entering an age where most front rowers come on , canโ€™t believe you donโ€™t want him , and with that you donโ€™t deserve him either.

  3. I donโ€™t want him either.
In order to get him we will have to pay overs, given he is so keen to stay at the Bunnies, and I just donโ€™t see him being worth that sort of punt. If we get the 2017 version, and on the big bucks, not good.
In addition, whilst we could use another big forward (who couldnโ€™t) we need an experienced hooker or centre more.
What actually worries me is, it looks like heโ€™s the only player weโ€™re chasing. I hope thatโ€™s not the case, but itโ€™s looking likely.

  4. Terrible move if he goes. Souths are in a good spot for the next 2-3 years for something good to happen if GI and Reynolds stay healthy. Smells like Justin Poore all over againโ€ฆ.

  5. The SMH is saying the same thing. Still, you canโ€™t believe everything you read in the paper (or on ZT for that matter) can you?

  6. Pensoโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ Itโ€™s not so much that Southโ€™s donโ€™t want him, but more about managing their cap. I follow Southโ€™s and personally, I would have rather let Sutto go and keep George and Robert Jennings. BUT the money they offered Sutto wouldnโ€™t have covered those guys anyway. I am reading between the lines here and guessing that they want to offload George and make a play for Pangai Junior. He only signed a one year deal and has freely admitted that he had a special bond with Bennett.

  7. 3 hats. Encouraged by his brotherโ€™s. And Jennings being mentioned in the same article does have something to do with George. Jennings wanted to stay at Southโ€™s, but they couldnโ€™t offer him a deal unless they freed up some coinโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ So if George goes, Jennings stays. I donโ€™t know where you get your info regarding Southโ€™s making an offer to Jennings months ago, but I played footy with a guy that is still involved at Southโ€™s and an offer was never tabled to him.

  8. Definitely not! That is my point I guess, until it is announced that George has signed a contract all of it is just speculation.

  9. The infamous, โ€œheโ€™s gone somewhere else so he uselessโ€ last year everyone including your self were singing Jennings praise, he was the next big thing heโ€™ll be a nsw player soon.
And now itโ€™s he canโ€™t tackle and heโ€™s useless.
Gee your sad, with al your inside knowledge and info (lol) you donโ€™t know much.

  10. I agree with you.
There must be some decent up & coming props out there. Parra could probably buy a couple of young props & have lots of money left over to fill the other positions.
