Parramatta centre Kirisome Auva'a has announced his retirement from the NRL, after five years in the league.
Auva'a calls time at just 26 years of age, with a chronic back issue the reason for his early retirement.
"My back has been bad for several years and even after surgery a couple of years ago, I’ve had problem after problem," Auva'a told Wide World of Sports.
"I’m thinking about quality of life after football and it’s a tough call but I believe it to be the right one.
"I’ve only managed a handful of games this season and it has been tough."
Auva'a only managed six games in 2018, and has made 22 first grade appearances for the Eels since making the move from South Sydney at the end of the 2016 season.
The centre played 39 games for the Rabbitohs, with his debut coming in Round 6, 2014.
