New Manly coach Des Hasler wants his 2011 premiership-winning five-eighth Kieran Foran back at the Sea Eagles.
The SMH.com.au is reporting that publicly Hasler and the Sea Eagles are denying trying to lure Foran back to the club but privately, enquiries have been made.
With Foran earning a reported $1 million a season for the next two years, the Bulldogs would be happy to release him and even pay part of his salary if the right suitor came along.
The problem for Hasler and the Sea Eagles is that the club has no room in their salary cap.
The Sea Eagles already have $330,000 less than other clubs in their cap for the next two seasons after breaches of the salary cap saw the NRL fine them and reduce their cap as penalty.
To enable Foran to return to the northern beaches, the Sea Eagles would need the Bulldogs to pay a hefty part of his wage and they would then also need to release a player or two.
There have been persistent rumours that Martin Taupau is unhappy at Narrabeen and would be open to a change of scenery but Hasler is apparently keen to keep the fiery forward.
With Daly Cherry-Evans and the Trbojevic brothers no doubt untouchable, it remains to be seen if Many have any other players that would entice other clubs.
