NSW Origin and Test prop David Klemmer has requested a release from his deal at the Bulldogs.

According to SMH.com.au, Klemmer is seeking a release from the final three years of his contract.

The request comes on the back of Klemmer feeling that the club has failed to deliver on a number of financial commitments agreed upon.

It's also understood that Klemmer's starting role with the Bulldogs could be a reason for the request, with the club needing to accommodate new signing Aaron Woods into the run-on side.

With rumours rife that the Bulldogs are over the salary cap for 2018 and needing to shed players, most chatter has been pointed towards English forward and club captain James Graham.

The Newcastle Knights and New Zealand Warriors have been reported to be keen on Graham but Klemmer leaving would no doubt end any rumours of Graham's departure.

Sam Kasiano is already all but gone, with the big prop reportedly informing teammates that he'll be leaving the club at the end of the season to take up a deal with the Melbourne Storm.
