The Newcastle Knights have announced that local junior Cory Denniss has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2018 season.

Still only 19-years-old, Denniss made his NRL debut in Round 3 of the 2016 season and went on to score three tries in seven appearances.

Able to play on the wing or in the centres, Denniss also made 11 appearances for the NYC Knights in 2016, scoring two tries and making seven try-assists.

โ€œHeโ€™s another player that we are very pleased to have re-signed,โ€ coach Nathan Brown said of Denniss.

โ€œCory is still very young, but he showed in his NRL appearances last season that he has the potential to become a consistent first grader.โ€

Denniss has embarked on his first NRL pre-season this month, and says heโ€™s looking forward to further developing his game.

โ€œIโ€™m very happy to have re-signed and Iโ€™m looking forward to being a part of the Club moving forward,โ€ he said.

โ€œIโ€™m finding my first NRL pre-season tough, but Iโ€™m enjoying every minute of it and itโ€™s always been a dream of mine to play for the Knights.โ€
