Sam Burgess and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves look set to miss the first week of the finals after the pair were both charged after Thursday night's clash at ANZ Stadium.
Burgess was charged with a Contrary Conduct Grade one for pulling Billy Smith's hair, while Waerea-Hargreaves was hit with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge for a tackle on Liam Knight.
Loading has seen Burgess given 142 points after the 100 base penalty, but could play next weekend if he fights the charge and wins.
If Burgess fights and loses, he'll be handed a one-match ban with 190 points.
For Waerea-Hargreaves, an early plea will see him handed a one-match ban with 155 points, with fight the charge could see him available if he wins, but with 195 if he loses.
The Roosters have finished second and could host the Rabbitohs next weekend in the qualifying final, although they'll host the Raiders if Canberra beats the Warriors on Saturday.
No charge for Cordner – it’s a joke.
MRC charge against JWH – what a joke!
No charge for S’au – its a joke again!
Let me check here.
So you cant tackle someone with your arms anymore?
No way should JWH been charged, that’s a joke.
Sam Burgess is now pulling hair, this bloke needs a serious punishment and he might stop with all this crap he dishes out, rub him out for longer
Both these dinosaurs belong in the 1970s
I’ve watched it quite a few times now and I’ve gone back and forth in opinion a couple of times, but ultimately, I’m going to say that JWH should be charged. The player has fallen significantly before he has even started his strike and he puts all into it anyway. He rolled the dice on that hit when he didn’t need to. As a spectator, it’s good theatre. A player slips and gets punished for it. For players, though – that’s behaviour that they need out of the game so they don’t live their later lives with concussion related problems. It’s marginal, but I think that is represented in the fact that it’s really only his prior record that puts him at a week.
Burgess, though.. he appears to be one of those player who drops a lot of IQ points as soon as he gets on the field. He seems quite susceptible to being baited into going too far. JWH has a veneer of playing hard. Burgess seems to be a bit out of control at times.
And 100% Sua should have been done for the shoulder charge. Sua was worse than the both of them.
Grub Hargreaves at it again when his team are spitting the dummy.
The 2 weeks he cops will end his 2019 season.
Cameron Smith can pull someone ear off and receive a letter of concern and a gold ring for his wife?
That will be my 1st question to the judiciary next week.
