Brisbane halfback Kodi Nikorima is feeling a lot better about his place at the Broncos, after a meeting with new coach Anthony Seibold late last year.
While Nikorima was on tour with New Zealand during the off-season, reports circled around the NRL that the Broncos were interesting in dealing the 24-year-old to the Warriors, although that move didn't eventuate.
Once Nikorima returned to Brisbane, he set up a meeting with Seibold regarding his playing future, and was calmly reassured his position was safe.
“I came in last year just so I could meet Seibs in person,” Nikorima told the Daily Telegraph.
“Obviously with all that stuff that came out, I felt the need to. Likewise, he got in contact with me as well. It was good to get that out of the way.
“It was just about knowing where I stood in the team and vice versa. I came in and he was all positive and told me to enjoy my break and be ready come Jan.
“(2020) is my contract and I’m here until then.”
Nikorima has only recently returned to the training fold for Brisbane, who returned from their Christmas break last week.
The No. 7 is currently enjoying life under Seibold, and can't wait to learn more from his new coach alongside Anthony Milford.
“I really like Seibs,” Nikorima added.
“I like what he brings. It’s obviously different to Wayne (Bennett) but he spends a lot of time with the halves and that can only benefit my game going forward.
“Hopefully we can see that growth this year.”
