Newcastle has reportedly made a decision on Nathan Brown's successor, with Adam O'Brien set to be the club's coach in 2020.
According to NRL.com, the two parties have agreed on a deal for O'Brien to join the Knights, with an announcement set to be made as early as later this week.
O'Brien is currently an assistant coach at the Sydney Roosters, but as reportedly informed the club of his plans to move to Newcastle.
O'Brien is set to stick with the Roosters until their season ends, with Sydney still in the hunt for a chance to win their second straight premiership.
The move comes after the Knights were embarrassed 46-4 on Saturday night against the Tigers, with Brown reportedly threatening to step aside immediately if he didn't have the support of the players.
However, it now looks as though Brown will coach out the season, before O'Brien replaces him in 2020.
