The Cronulla Sharks have signed Cameron King to bolster their hooker depth.

The former Eel, Cowboy and Dragon has signed a one-year deal with the Sharks following a stint in the UK for Featherstone Rovers.

King was a highly rated young talent, having represented NSW under-18โ€™s, the Australian Schoolboys and the Junior Kangaroos before joining St George Illawarra in 2010.

A series of knee injuries hampered King throughout his NRL career, limiting him to just 43 NRL games.

He joins Cronulla to provide support first-choice hooker Blayke Bailey.

โ€œItโ€™s was good to get here, meet everyone and jump straight into it,โ€ King told sharks.com.au.

โ€œI wasnโ€™t sure Iโ€™d get another opportunity in the NRL, so Iโ€™m grateful to be back. Itโ€™s good to get here and Iโ€™m excited about the year ahead.โ€

The 28-year old was excited by Sharks squad and is keen to get stuck into pre-season training.

โ€œI think itโ€™s really exciting the squad weโ€™ve got here and Iโ€™m looking forward to a big pre season and hopefully a good year in 2020,โ€ King added.

  1. Good signing for the Sharkies with one of the Brailey brothers gone. I rate King heโ€™s perfect for that 2nd string hooker role, cause if he gets given any minutes at first grade he will ply his heart out.

  2. Poor bloke, such a talent coming through the juniors but injuries killed him. Still remember his barge over in the WCC in 2011 at a vital stage of the game that practically won it for Saints then a short time later he ruptured his pec. Sums it up right there

  3. Dont know too much bout this fullah, but from the sounds of it he went alright. If he stays injury free he may get top gig. Wish him well.

  4. He is a good pick up cookeem. Not sure if he will get the top gig but he is good for depth and support at the 9.
