Tongan international Solomone Kata has chosen not to stay at Melbourne Storm for 2020.

Kata played six matches for the Warriors this year before he was dropped to their reserve team. In June he agreed an immediate move to Melbourne where he played nine matches with theirย feeder club Easts Tigers in the Intrust Super Cup.

"Iโ€™ve really enjoyed my time here at Storm and made some good friends over the past few months," Kata said.

"However another opportunity has come up that Iโ€™m keen to explore so I wonโ€™t be with the club next year.

"Iโ€™d like to thank everyone at Storm for making me feel so welcome and wish the boys all the best in 2020."

It is believed Kata will join the Brumbies in the Super Rugby.

Frank Ponissi, the Storm's Football Director, thanked Kata for his efforts in a statement from the club.

"Although Sol wasnโ€™t able to break into our minor premiership-winning team, he proved to be a popular squad member who was always willing to help his new teammates get the best preparation possible for their NRL match each week as well as doing his job with the Tigers," he said.

"He leaves us with our best wishes for the future."

  1. Kata is a nobody. However while talking about nobodies it is now obvious that not one Souths player could make the Roosters Nrl top 13.

Crichton was Souths best player last season and he has hit some excellent form thanks to the Roosters elite coaching team but can only make the bench. Twentyone and your fool Souths backup mates on this site, need a few humble pies to munch on. Fools.

  2. @John Howard

For a nobody, Kata has played over 90 NRL games, 5 tests for NZ and 6 tests for Tonga, all by the ripe old age of 24.

And exactly what have you achieved in the world or rugby league???

  3. Shame to lose a player of Katas pedigree I’m sure some other team could’ve fit in there 17 each round to improve there squad. When on song he was great to watch.

As for Chricton Howard I know you’re fishing but honestly you can’t think Chrichton has improved at Roosters, I don’t think he has been a shadow of what he was at Bunnies.

  4. Adamhoward are you mentally disturbed you canโ€™t even hide your identity properly and you rant on with the same ol Souths Roosters BS. Nobody cares. Seriously you are either a 6 year old child or a disturbed childish adult.

  5. If Solo Kata could not crack first grade at Melbourne after being dropped by the Warriors and choosing to go there. Then obviously he is not the quality player he thinks he is.

After bombing out with the Storm and being linked to the inferior game of Union, then I tend to agree with Adam that he is a nobody.

Inferno24 I think you need to loosen up a little. Everybody knows its grand final week and Sydney fans have every right to have a stir with their hated rival Souths fans at every opportunity who always carry on with total garbage. If you are offended by Adams jibes then you are either a Souths fan or a baby minded person,

If your going to police the site then you had better be consistent and have a go at that other Souths silly person Twentyone.
