North Queensland stalwart Scott Bolton will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2019 season.

Bolton, who will be remembered as a club legend, bids farewell after 244 NRL appearances, which sees him sit fourth in all-time games played for the Cowboys.

His NRL career started in Round 4, 2007 against the Wests Tigers.

Highlights include winning the Cowboys' first ever premiership in 2015 and playing a significant role in the sideโ€™s unbelievable run to the 2017 grand final.

โ€œAs a kid from Innisfail (far north Queensland), just coming to the Cowboys in the mid-2000โ€™s was fulfilling a life-long dream. I never imagined Iโ€™d go on to play for the club for 13 seasons,โ€ he told cowboys.com.au.

โ€œIโ€™d like to thank my family, teammates, coaches and fans as well as all the sponsors of the club for all their support throughout my career.โ€

Cowboys Director of Football Peter Parr acknowledged Boltonโ€™s impact on the club in his illustrious career.

โ€œHeโ€™s one of the most selfless players Iโ€™ve seen in my time here,โ€ Parr told the club's website.

โ€œIn my mind Scott Bolton is one of the great contributors, both on and off the field, in this clubโ€™s history.โ€
