The Penrith Panthers have confirmed Waqa Blake has been granted a release from his contract, to pursue an opportunity with the Parramatta Eels.

The 24-year-old has played 88 NRL games for the club, making his senior debut in 2015.

Before that, he won back-to-back premierships with Penrith as a member of the club's NYC side in 2013 and NSW Cup side in 2014.

โ€œPanthers was initially approached by Parramatta to express their interest in acquiring the services of Waqa Blake,โ€ Panthers CEO Brian Fletcher told the club's website.

โ€œUltimately it was a difficult decision to grant Waqaโ€™s release but it will assist the management of our salary cap moving forward.

โ€œWe extend our sincere thanks to Waqa for his contribution at Panthers and wish him the best of luck for the future.โ€

  1. How come Panthers letting him go.
He hasn’t got a “risque” video about to come out………………………………………………………………………………………..has he?

  2. At least Parramatta are signing players who are young and still have plenty to offer.
Not washed up players like in the past like A Watmough and B Scott
A quick fix is never the answer. Signings of Jr Paulo and S Lane now W Blake there heading in a better direction.

I think we need two more big boppers and thatโ€™s it
Iโ€™d be going after RCG and Welch would be good
