Penrith have signed veteran Frank Winterstein from Manly on a one-year deal ahead of the 2019 campaign.

Winterstein has been training with the squad since Monday, and the 32-year-old can't wait to get stuck in to the season proper.

โ€œIt was a bit of whirlwind last weekend with everything falling into place for me to join the Panthers,โ€ Winterstein told penrithpanthers.com.au.

โ€œIโ€™m excited and grateful for the opportunity Iโ€™ve been given and look forward to working with the talented players and coaches.

โ€œIโ€™ve been in the professional sport environment for a long time and I know I can use that experience to help the young players here, on and off the field.โ€

Winterstein played 41 games for the Sea Eagles after joining the club in August 2016, following stints playing league over in England and rugby union.

Penrith's Executive General Manager Phil Gould was pleased to bring someone of Winterstein's experience into the club.

โ€œItโ€™s a bonus for our club to gain a player of Frankโ€™s experience and ability at this stage of the season,โ€ Gould added.

โ€œHe gives our roster added depth in a key position.โ€

  1. What’s Manly doingโ“โ”โ“โ”โ“โ” Franken Winterstein went reasonably good at the no depth SeaBird club. I think Manly is looking red hot for their first spoon๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜

  2. Its a strange one as you look at the forward depth and imagine thats the type off forward they would want.Nothing special just a no b/s style forward. For months i keep hearing Parra are looking at forwards and have cash.I would of thought he would of been what they looking for.Experience hard nose forward who aint gunna cost.

  3. This isnโ€™t a go because he has left, but there wonโ€™t be a manly supporter upset by this.
For his size he is a pussy cat, doesnโ€™t get in for the hard work and is too slow for a backrower as was shown last year when he got overtaken by a prop in a 10metew sprint to the line.
Plenty young blokes that will do his job and it is 1 position we are covered in anyways. We need backs and maybe another prop

  4. ๐Ÿ‘Yep well covered for backrowers. Des making room for another prop or outside back. Obviously wood duck has no clue about mighty manly. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ชKeep dreaming about that spoon. You might end up with it sooner than u think

  5. Panthers have really good depth forwards thatโ€™ll bring impact off the bench. Winsterstein will play a similar role to Kikau who is unavailable in the first few rounds. Good and cheap signing for them

  6. Maybe so, but he had a pretty good game in the now Canterbury Cup game today. Scored a try & set up one. In a game where Wentworthville had just about all the ball in the second half & most of the decisions their way.

  7. Forward depth , won’t do them any good.when the keep dropping the ball.
They were terrible. Mind you, Parramatta won’t get almost all the decisions & penalties their way in every game.
How does Jennings not get sent off for good , after using a swinging still arm on Yeo’s head?
