St Helens' flying winger Tommy Makinson has signed a new contract with the club, rejecting interest from NRL clubs in the process.

Makinson was rumoured to be on the Knights' radar after being spotted with coach Nathan Brown during a post-season holiday Down Under.

However, on the eve of the new Super League season he's handed the Saints and the Super League a big boost by extending his contract until the end of the 2022 season.

Makinson was the shock winner of the Golden Boot award for the world's best player in 2018 after scoring 4 tries in his first four England games, all against New Zealand.

He also played a big part in Saints winning the League Leaders Shield last year and will be an instrumental part of their team for the upcoming season.

  1. doesn’t surprise me that he would do that. 8 out 10 english recruits end up being duds anyway. Be interested to see ryan hall this year at easts even though he left his move 5 years too late.

  2. Hall did his ACL at the end of the last English season. will he even get on the field in 2019?
If he does, it will be bombs away for Ryan. Lots of kicks coming his way!

  3. Ryan Hall is well ahead of schedule in his recovery. It is estimated he will miss about 5 games at the start. His stats suggest that he is the worlds best finisher. In reality the Sydney Roosters have signed the solid blockbuster for two seasons. When he hits his straps eventually every league fan will acknowledge him as the Worlds best winger.
