Panthers utility Tyrone Peachey may back out of his deal with the Titans and remain in Penrith because his partner is uncertain about relocating their young family, as reported byย The Daily Telegraph.
Peachey's managerย Sam Ayoub confirmed that the flyer may backflip on his three-year contract with the Gold Coast worth $1.5 million, who are reportedly confident he could work through his family issue.
โIโm reasonably confident, but I canโt commit to it 100 per cent,โ Ayoub told The Daily Telegraph.
โTyroneโs wife is a bit concerned. A few of the other boys that have gone up to the Gold Coast and their partners havenโt settled in being away from family.
โThey are looking to have a second kid and she is worried that it will be difficult for her.
โIt is human nature to have second thoughts about things that could have a dramatic bearing on your family situation.
โBut we are working through it and it doesnโt mean he is not going to be at the Titans.
โFamilies have issues from time-to-time that they have to weigh up.
โHe (Tyrone) has signed a contract and that is the intent. We are working through a situation there.
โThe first thing I did was speak to the Titans to let them know that there is an issue at home, so we could work through it.
โThe Titans have been great since I alerted them about the potential issue.โ
Titans coach Gareth Brennan has labelled Peachey as an "honourable man" and does not think he could backlfip on his deal with the Titans like Manly star Daly Cherry-Evans did in 2015.
โOne thing I will say about Tyrone Peachey is he is a good man. He is an honourable man," Brennan toldย The Daily Telegraph.ย
โHe is committed to us. Iโd be very surprised if anything changes.โ
But the round 13 rule which allowed Cherry-Evans to back out of his deal with the Titans has since been removed, meaning Peachey would have to be officially released by Gold Coast to stay at the Panthers.
Titans skipper Ryan James became closer with Peachey through their experiences at the indigenous All Stars camp and the NSW Origin squad, and said that he had spoken about buying a property on the Gold Coast.
โWe were talking about where he was looking for houses,โ James toldย The Daily Telegraph.ย
โHe has been up and started looking. He was asking and probing where to buy.
โI probably would be (surprised if he backflipped). He seemed keen at the time but I havenโt talked to him in the past six weeks.โ
