All Blacks star and former NRL forward Sonny Bill Williams hasn't ruled out a return to rugby league, as his career begins to wind down.
Williams has said he would only return to play for the Roosters, after developing a special relationship with the club, including Sydney boss Nick Politis.
The 33-year-old played for the Roosters for two seasons, and won a premiership with the Tricolours back in 2013.
Williams was a guest on The Matty Johns Showย on Sunday night, and had a candid chat with Johns on his future.
โTo be honest, bro, Iโm 34 next year,โ Williams told the show.
โIโm just happy doing what I love doing. Iโm really concentrating on things off the field.
I really want to affect my Pasifika people. With that comes responsibility.
โI need to learn and I need more knowledge in that field, which Iโm doing, Iโm studying for my coaching papers, so god willing I make it through next year and make that World Cup side, then after that, I have to keep the wife happy and then if I do play on itโll have to be at a place where I can still have a voice.โ
After Williams returned to rugby league in 2013 five years removed from playing for the Bulldogs, he made an immediate impact with the Roosters, and developed a strong friendship with Politis.
Williams says Politis is like "family" to him, and confirmed if he ever did return to the NRL, he'd only pull on the red, white and blue.
โPretty much as soon as I left rugby league we started that conversation,โ Williams added.
โWe came to the mutual understanding, the mutual agreement, you could call it a handshake agreement if you like, that if I do ever come back to rugby league it would be with the Roosters.
โWhen I decided to come back it was always going to be with the Roosters.
โMe and Nick go way back a long way, weโre like family. You donโt just win a premiership with somebody and then just close those doors.โ
