The Gold Coast Titans have announced that Ryan James will captain the club in 2018.

James was appointed co-captain at the beginning of the 2017 season, before assuming the full captaincy role mid-way through the season, and he will continue in the role again in 2018.

"Iโ€™ve said many times what the Titans means to me and nothing has changed," James said.

"This club is all I know and Iโ€™m so passionate about the team, the people involved and the whole region.

"Weโ€™ve had a number of changes over time but Iโ€™m truly excited about 2018 and what we can do as a club.

"Iโ€™ve got a number of senior guys around me and Iโ€™ll continue to lean on them throughout what we all know is a long and tough NRL season."

Newly appointed Head Coach Garth Brennan didnโ€™t see the need for change at the top.

"Ryan is a genuine leader," he said.

"I said early on after my arrival that I would take my time in making a decision on the captaincy but Ryan has shown the qualities necessary across all areas of the club.

"Heโ€™s a local, heโ€™s experienced, heโ€™s passionate, heโ€™s community-minded and heโ€™s someone that the group look up to. Thatโ€™s what we want and I know he is more than capable in the role.

"Heโ€™ll have Kevin Proctor and Nathan Peats to lean on and I know the three of them have spoken about how they can contribute to taking this club forward."
