Isaac De Gois has not played a match for the Parramatta Eels this season after being concussed during a pre-season trial in February.
De Gois was suffering from headaches when ever he increased his training load and the Eels had been erring on the side of caution.
The Daily Telegraph is now reporting that De Gois was recently called intoย Eels chief executive Bernie Gurr's office and told that he will never be allowed to play rugby league again for the club.
โIt all comes back to a duty of care issue,โ says Gurr.
โHe has a contract until the end of next year but weโre not comfortable picking him to play.
โItโs not a money issue and itโs not a salary cap issue. Heโll get paid everything he is owed."
Concussion remains a hot topic for the NRL with former State of Origin winger James McManus taking legal action against Newcastle for its handling of his head knocks.
A recent study by Dr Ann McKee, a neuropathologist, examined the brains of 202 deceased American football players.
Of the 202 players, 111 of them played in the NFL โ and 110 of those were found to have chronic traumatic encephalopathy or C.T.E., the degenerative disease believed to be caused by repeated blows to the head.
