South Sydney could be without star forward Sam Burgess for the rest of the season after he was forced from the field with a rib injury in the Rabbitohs 26-12 loss to the Sharks.
Channel 9 is reporting that Burgess has a suspected broken rib and if so, could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

Even with no fracture to the rib, Burgess will likely spend a few weeks on the sidelines.
With the Rabbitohs currently sitting in 14th and unlikely to feature in the finals this year, the club could decide to not risk any further injury to Burgess.
Another consideration for Burgess is the World Cup at the end of the season, which he'll no doubt want to be fit for.
Classic rib cartilage injury mechanism for Sam Burgess. Hope for no fracture. One of the most painful injuries #NRLSharksSouths
